One pan! Mushroom, Onion and Sausage Skillet

Kick Ass (and Kosher) Mushroom, Onion, and Sausage Skillet

Kick Ass (and Kosher) Mushroom, Onion, and Sausage Skillet

This is one of my new favorite go to meals!  Since my in-laws are Jewish it is so nice to have a crowed pleasing recipe hidden up my sleeve when they come to visit. Not Jewish? No problem! Try sprinkling some mozzarella on top! Wanna make it family friendly? Just leave out the cayenne!  No matter the variation, it's an awesome dinner that is sure to please!   Ingredients: 1 white onion sliced 12 pkg of mushrooms quartered (any kind will work!) 4 sausages of your choice (I like using chicken apple sausage) 2 Tbsp chopped garlic 1 can diced tomatoes (with juice) 1 tsp Italian seasoning 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper 1/2 Tbsp olive oil 1 box penne pasta   To Make:
  1. Heat up olive oil in the largest skillet you have. (trust me, you'll be glad you did!)
  2. Add sausage and saute until brown.
  3. Remove sausage from heat and slice.
  4. Return sausage to pan and brown.
  5. Add onions and mushrooms and saute for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add garlic and can of tomatoes (w/ juice) and bring to a boil.
  7. Once boiling adding box of uncooked penne and cover.
  8. Simmer on low for 15 minutes or until pasta is al dente.
  9. Remove from heat and uncover. Sauce should thicken as skillet cools.
